The FIM Freestyle MX World Championships starts with the NIGHT of the JUMPs Riga in it’s 2nd half of the season
Riga, 05th October 2009: Upcoming Saturday the FIM Freestyle MX World Championships starts with the NIGHT of the JUMPs in Riga in it’s 2nd half of the season. A spectacular fight will approach, as the riders haven’t been on the IFMXF track for the last 4 months during the summer break. After seven rounds French rider Remi Bizouard leads the ranking with 123 points. Spain’s Jose Miralles follows 13 points behind. And with 108 or 107 scores US-Boy Brody Wilson and Vice World Champion Libor Podmol still have their chances of the title. Especially Podmol improved his strength at the last contests by premiering 1-Hand Nac Underflip and Stripperflip on the IFMXF track. We can be curious of what kind of new tricks the FMX athletes have invented over the summer months and will show in Riga.
Unfortunately Steve Mini crashed at a show in Melbourne/Australia and will not come back till Ostrava. Therefore André Villa from Norway returns to the IFMXF track. For his comeback at the IFMXF Villa surely will nail amazing tricks on the dirt. Luckily Massimo Bianconcini is back on the track after his horror crash at the Race and Style in Mannheim. And with Alexey Kolesnikof we will see a Russian FMX rider debuting at the NIGHT of the JUMPs.
And also from German rider Freddy Peters we can expect a new level of his freestyle. The FMX pro from Berlin just won the German FMX Championships and should be highly motivated to raise his account in the World Championship ranking. With current 45 points he is holding the 9th place overall.
The complete field of riders at the 7th contest of the FIM Freestyle MX World Championships consists:
Remi Bizouard (FRA)
Jose Miralles Garcia (ESP)
Brody Wilson (USA)
Libor Podmol (CZE)
Brice Izzo (FRA)
Fabian Bauersachs (GER)
Massimo Bianconcini (ITA)
Freddy Peters (GER)
Hannes Ackermann (GER)
André Villa (NOR)
Alexey Kolesnikof (RUS)
After Riga the fight for points of the FIM Freestyle MX World Championships will go on in Ostrava on November 6th and 7th. Round 11 takes place in Zagreb on November 14th. And the NIGHT of the JUMPs season finals will happen on November 21st in Windhoek/Namibia and December 5th in Fortalesa/Brazil.

Ryan Capes Breaks the World Record at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, NV Sep 27th, 2009
This past Saturday, distance jumper Ryan Capes proceeded to break the ramp-to-ramp motorcycle distance jump record in Reno, Nevada. According to Capes, his official distance was 316 feet, 5 inches — triangulated by GPS conducted by Sierra Surveying Inc. The measurement was documented and will now be sent into Guinness for approval.
What's next for Capes? He's claiming over 400 feet on the same ramp-to-ramp setup. Love him or hate him, Capes is gunning for the number one spot.

iPhone Freestyle Aug 21st, 2009
Now YOU can finally compete in a Red Bull X-Fighters event
Red Bull X-Fighters for the iPhone isn't super-easy, but it's pretty easy to figure out — I was busting out tricks in no time. The game isn't on the same level as 2XL Supercross, but it's way more fun to play in my opinion. I'd also have to say that it fits the iPhone better than 2XL Supercross. One gripe I have is that I think it could've been priced a tad lower — $4.99 seems a bit steep for a game of this caliber.
You finally have a chance to pull a double pits to chesty!!!

Dew Tour Downgrade Aug 17th, 2009
One of FMX's biggest contest series' becomes a "jam session"
August 17, 2009, 5:18 PM
By: Ryan Leyba
If you tuned into NBC this weekend to catch the first stop of the Dew Tour in Portland, you probably noticed that there was no FMX. BMX yes — FMX no. What was once one of the sports biggest series' of contests has now become a mere jam session-style demo. To find out what the riders think of the new format, I rang up 2008 Dew Cup winner, Adam Jones

X Games 15 Moto X Best Trick Results Aug 3rd, 2009
Judging from the rider introductions alone, Travis Pastrana was clearly the heavy favorite going into the Moto X Best Trick competition in the Staples Center. Kyle Loza was another to receive lots of love from the crowd as the two-time reigning champ arrived looking for a three-peat.
The whole show looked like something out of a Playstation 3 game with riders throwing new tricks that never seem possible. Slow rotations and incredible combinations were incredible to watch, but unsuccessful on all counts. The way that riders took massive diggers and managed to walk away was also more similar to a video game. Big crashes ultimately shaped the outcome of the Best Trick competition.
Willy Watts, an unknown rider from Oklahoma, showed up with some mystery trick but wound up backing out on both runs which drew some disapproval from commentator and freestyle originator, Brian Deegan. With that waste of time over with, the rest of the show could continue. Silly Willy, we won't be seeing him at X again.
Blake Williams laid down a 360 downside Indian air can-can, a brand new combination, on his first run which set him firmly in the lead. The only 4-stroke rider of the night left the rest of the competition to crash their way out of contention.
Wearing classic leather work gloves, Scott Murray attempted a double backflip and twisted off-axis on his first run and under-rotated the second attempt to come up empty handed and dejected yet again. American rider Paris Rosen attempted a front flip only to land on his rear wheel and loop backwards, landing hard on his tailbone. He would not return for a second run, but the crowd wasn’t too concerned about it as Pastrana rolled to the starting ramp for his first attempt.
With twice as many X Games medals than the entire rest of the field, Pastrana went back to his roots and showed up with a RM125. His reasoning for the small 2-stroke was lighter weight and easier rotation of a smaller machine. TP hucked a brand new trick called the Rodeo 720, but he wasn’t able to get the bike back in line and wound up dropping hard on his right hip. After the hard knock, TP managed to limp up the landing ramp and salute the crowd after which he retreated backstage to sip a Red Bull and watch the replay to assess his performance. Ultimately he had to assess his physical condition and was forced to bow out of his second run due to blurry vision. However, his radical move was enough to put him in medal contention.
“I had this dialed a week ago,” he said “…I really thought I had it.”
Loza earned his first gold in 2007 with the Volt body variable and followed that up with the Electric Doom in 2008. Loza would pull the same trick as he did last year and it was good enough to displace Bilko despite the fact that Williams had brought something new. The commentators and riders on the sideline were all remarking on the importance of innovation, but Loza’s repeat trick was impressive enough.
“That was the scariest thing of my entire life,” he said, “except for the last two years.”
Todd Potter, fresh off his gold medal in Moto X Best Whip, picked up bronze after playing it safe with a pair of extended flip combinations.
